Forgetting is a part of Remembering

I love the phrase ‘You have to forget so many times until you finally remember’. Though I don’t know who said it, this does have a huge resonance with me as I have experienced it in my life as well. Just as failure is a part of success same goes with this. I’m not implying this on small things we try to remember and forget, it’s about values and habits which we actually start and then miss out on them. It’s the things which make us better human beings. For example for almost three years I’ve been meditating on and off. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever experienced but still I slip many times. But I return back to it again and again, I know that there’ll be a day when I’ll finally get so consistent and it that I’ll hardly skip.

Many of us know a lot of things which we should do and shouldn't do, but we cling on to the old behavior of our because that feels too comfortable. It’s just as equal to forgetting something. Whether it’s a habit, a perspective or a belief it takes time for a shift to happen, be mindful about the times you go back to old patterns and come back again. Go back and forth a few times and finally you’ll be able to do what’s really beneficial, progressive and in alignment with your values.
