The idea of God
As humans, more specifically as homo sapiens we have lived and thrived by living in communities. That has been the case for most of the human history. Communities helped us live, eat and fuck peacefully. They were the reason we have survived but like most of the evolutionary traits this one also lead to a major drawback.
We’ve always united in throughout the history for some reason. In the earlier ages it was for food and safety. Then it moved on to status, power, god and so on. These pillars of unity has laid down the paths that paved the history to this point and they were relevant. Each of these things had their own positives but when some ideas do more harm than good, they’re a burden to society, still humans cling of to these ideas, which are converted into beliefs and people often see them as core values.
The moment we are born we like to create Identities for ourselves. We identify with a small group of people as a family. Then it’s about our community, then religion, then nationality. We also identify with many groups throughout our lives. And yes, they do give us sense of purpose and meaning, the more we forget our real self and more we confuse our identity with certain groups we get in trouble. Then we have all kinds of problems.
Out of all these ideas the idea of god is the most interesting one. The way people have faith towards their religion, it’s unbelievable. Faith is powerful, one should have faith. But, the problem starts when you try to look outwards instead of inwards. The solution of all the problems is than god, if not god then other people become the problem. Then the myriad of reasons began to spur out, out of nowhere. People would worship god for hours and then go on to have quarrels and fights in the name of god. They would put others down, get drunk in their self righteousness, and have problems with each and every individual. I often hear people saying the world is spoiled, no one’s worth trusting (the whole world is a fucker they would say in India). I am not perfect, and I’ve also had problems with people. But, when I looked inwards I was the one dealing with some issue or hurt which I was projecting on to others. When you go inwards, you need no god to save you or even to pray to. Everything starts with the self in your own heart & soul. Everything that you want to spread out in the world, start it with yourself. It’s magical to see it’s effects. God is you, the idea of god is for the one’s who are not responsible, do the rituals, pray and keep the one you believe in close, but remember you can only go as far outwards as far as you’ve gone inwards. Do you deeply resonate with the values and teachings which your god teaches you, or are you just interested in mindless following. Saying empty words. Can you be a human being that even god would want to meet or just the one going around without thoughtful reflection of where you life is going. Build values, Do service, spread love and kindness, rewire your character and above all be true to yourself for then you’ll be true to everyone else. As it is said again and again like a cliché, BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.
