On an average, I do watch a movie once a month and the number keeps on increasing or decreasing. There are classics, masterpieces, biopics etc. and then there comes a movie once in a while that I can not process in a day or sometimes even a week. These kinds of movies rarely find a way through a director’s and writer’s vision and that too once in a lifetime. One such movie was The Kashmir Files, For starters I’ll just talk about the movie. The brilliance of acting, direction and story in harmony. You would just sit there doing your stuff as the movie is about to start but once it rolls, it touches you, it shocks you, it makes you wonder, question and realize how valuable sitting comfortably in a theatre actually is.

The movie makes you rethink your perspective on life. The inhuman acts that led to the insane torture of fellow humans were unthinkable and unimaginable. Most of the people who are good at heart will wonder how can someone even do this. There is also a major part of the movie which questions one’s beliefs about society, about history, culture, and opinions in general. We often neglect the importance of authenticity of the information, we go with what feels right, what makes you feel good about the world and what is attractive. I agree that we all want to believe that the world is a good place and it is, but at times we’ve to be sensible enough to draw the line between truth and what’s being told to us. That’s the crux of the movie, it’s true in every sense. One of the best dialogues of the movie, The Story of Kashmir is so true that it appears as a lie, but it isn’t. The end is one of a kind where you’re left with mixed emotions, and with a question to answer for yourself. Though I myself am a not participator in the worldly events which involve politics, drama, media and I know the world does not even let not participators live peacefully. But, I wonder is the world as we see, hear and perceive is all there is? What do you think?
